We’re Canada’s fastest-growing online brokerage for a second consecutive time
Once again, Questrade Inc. has been rated as Canada’s fastest growing online brokerage according to Investor Economics’ Retail Brokerage Report. The report, which was published in September, used a sampling of three measurements for the 2nd quarter, 2008: stocks and bonds, tax-deferred assets, and taxable assets. Investor Economics is an independent, industry-monitoring agency that examines all aspects of the Canadian online discount brokerage industry.
Extended forex trading hours
Forex trade desk hours have expanded. Effective November 2nd, the new hours are:
Sunday: 5 p.m. – 11:55 pm EST
Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. – 11:55 p.m. EST
Friday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST
Forex margin rates have changed
The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) has implemented new margin rates for foreign currency. Visit our forex margin pricing page for a complete list of margin rates.
Shorting threshold List
On a daily basis, major stock exchanges publish a list of securities that are not available to short. This list is known as the threshold list. Now you can access links to these lists from the Trading & Investing tab under Stocks and Options.
Chinese.Questrade.com
Our new Chinese website (http://chinese.questrade.com) is live. Chinese-speaking customers can access a streamlined version of Questrade.com, including pricing, our products and services, and the online account-opening application in traditional and simplified Chinese.
Global Chinese Financial Forum
Questrade participated in the 9th annual Global Chinese Financial Forum in Toronto on October 18th, 2008. This conference proved to be a huge success, providing an opportunity for Chinese investors and Canadian businesses to connect. Tax-free Savings Account
The 2008 federal budget introduced a flexible new investment vehicle for Canadians, the tax-free savings account (TFSA). Starting in 2009, Questrade clients will be able to contribute up to $5,000 annually into a TFSA, where your investments can earn dividends and capital gains tax-free.
Exchange funds requests
We’re making enhancements to the exchange funds request function in myQuestrade. As of November 7th you can view your current account balance and get an exchange rate estimate every time you make a request to exchange currency. You’ll also have more control with the ability to modify or cancel your requests as well. To access the exchange funds request, login to myQuestrade, select My Funds, and click Exchange Funds.
