Opening your Questwealth portfolio

Follow these easy steps to start opening a Questwealth Portfolios account.

Getting started with Questwealth Portfolios™ is easy. Follow these steps to open your portfolio.

Please note: The information shown in this article may vary slightly from your experience as we work to improve the overall account opening process.

From Questrade.com, navigate to the green “Open an account” button in the top right corner of the page. This will take you to the Account Selection page where you can choose the product and account types that are right for you.

Scroll past the self-directed options to where it says “Questwealth - get an intelligent portfolio designed by experts” and click “add.” On the right side of your screen, you’ll see a confirmation that says, “You’re opening 1 account(s).” If you have an offer code, you can enter it here. You can select the account type for your Questwealth portfolio at the end of the Portfolio Questionnaire because we would like to understand your risk tolerance and financial goals first. Click the green “open now” button and a new page will open in your browser. 

Select the “start questionnaire” button to get started. You’ll be asked a series of questions so we can match you with a portfolio. If you need to exit, no problem. Click the “save and continue” button and you can come back at any time.

In the questionnaire, you’ll answer 10 questions about your financial goals and risk tolerance. Knowing your financial circumstance and goals, as well as your ability and willingness to take risks, helps us determine the appropriate portfolio for you. We’re here to help you reach your objective. Markets can face sudden fluctuations and investments can experience sharp declines due to unforeseen global events. Your comfort with portfolio growth or decline will help us provide you with the portfolio that is best suited to you.

Your recommended portfolio will appear on the screen. Here, you can select the option to make your portfolio Socially Responsible. If you’re happy with your portfolio, select “continue.”

From here, you’ll be asked to choose the account type for your portfolio. Choose from a Cash Account, Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA), or Registered Savings Plan (RSP). Choose an account type and continue.

Now you can start to build your profile. You’ll see four boxes: Personal, Employment, Financial, and Citizenship.

When filling these out, keep in mind these Profile questions help us identify you to keep your account and finances secure. To make the process easier, we only ask for information we absolutely need.

Click on the “Personal” box to complete this section. Your first name, last name, phone number and email will pre-populate into this section. Scroll down to enter your marital status and address and click “done.”

You’ll be brought back to your profile screen. Click the “Employment” box and enter your employment type. Answer the subsequent questions based on your current situation and select “done.”

Next, click the “Citizenship” box. Here, enter your country of citizenship. Please let us know if you are a tax resident of a jurisdiction other than Canada or the U.S. Certify that all of your tax residence information is complete and select “done.”

Select your account type and click “set up account.” 

Here, you’ll be asked a few more questions about your account. In the first section, enter your account details. Enter the purpose of your account and your initial deposit and select “done.”

Next, please give your consent to communication. Select your preferred language for security holder materials (English or French) and click “continue.”

Complete the “Persons with financial interest” section. Confirm and continue.

Next is the “Agreements” section. Please read the agreements carefully and click “done.”

The second section of setting up your account is to submit and sign your documents. Please E-sign the document package and the Investment Management Agreement, then upload a government-issued photo-ID. Please note these documents may take up to 10 business days to process due to high volumes.

The third and final step is to fund your account. Choose how you’d like to fund your account and follow the outlined steps to complete the process.

You’re all set

Once you’ve funded your account, you’re all set! Welcome to your new Questwealth portfolio. Log in to keep track of your account opening status and documents.
